About Us
In 2015, the founders, Marian and her mother Sue, took a trip to Nepal that transformed their lives. After witnessing the devastation caused by a major earthquake that left nearly 9,000 people dead, they felt compelled to run several missions to help the survivors with food, clothing and materials to rebuild their homes.
Working with the vulnerable population, particularly women and children, fostered a desire to do more. Thus, Blue Dragonfly Foundation was established with the aim to alleviate poverty, develop next generation leaders and reduce inequality through providing education, life skills training and opportunities.
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” – Mother Teresa

Our Team
Marian Lee
Co-Founder
Marian's passion for working with the vulnerable population was shaped at an early age while tagging along with her mother to volunteer.
She has experience in delivering aid for natural disaster relief as well as fundraising. Her experiences in South America and Asia have given her a deep appreciation for different cultures and fostered a passion for providing opportunities in order to lift the socio-economic statuses of those who most need a helping hand.
Marian is excited to be a founding member of Blue Dragonfly Foundation where she can use her management consulting experiences to create opportunities and make a tangible difference in people's lives. Her goal is to leave community sustained solutions.
Sue Lee
Co-Founder
Sue is an advocate for equality, opportunities, and happiness. She believes that every individual is entitled to equal access to opportunities and to live the best quality of life, with meaning.
Sue was born in Taiwan and immigrated to New York at age of 16. During the transition and exposure to a new culture, she experienced struggles and isolation from other peers and communities. Sue hopes to utilize her past experiences from these hardships to help similar individuals overcome and adjust to these challenges.
Sue is passionately involved in different aspects of community work. Some of the community activities she is involved in includes natural disaster relief, public welfare programs and hospice care.
Joanne Chan
Treasurer
Joanne brings an extensive volunteering background, ranging from children's education, and general health and safety to elderly health. She also has experience working in an immigration center and food pantry as well as fundraising for a friend who got cancer.
The different volunteering experiences helped fostered a deep appreciation for working with people from all walks of life and fostered her passion to advocate for human and animal rights.
She believes that we should all have equal rights and respect other cultures and nature.
